While most children go on summer holidays each year, eight-year-old Basri spends his summer in the mountains of North Macedonia. His family has been engaged in shepherding for generations. The tradition is carried on by his three older brothers, who look after hundreds of sheep and cows, protected from wolves by loyal Šarplaninac dogs. This summer, Basri is trying to learn the trade from his brothers. He revels in the wilderness and the sense of freedom, while facing the challenges of the unforgiving natural environment, far removed from the adult world. For him, it is a dream life, while his two eldest brothers struggle with uncertainty about their future.
