BARBORA CHALUPOVÁ is one of the leading screenwriters and directors of the emerging generation in the Czech Republic. Her most acclaimed work is the feature documentary Caught in the Net (2020), co-directed with Vít Klusák, which premiered at CPH:DOX and became the most successful documentary in Czech cinema history, attracting more than 570,000 admissions. Internationally represented by Autlook Filmsales, the film was theatrically released in countries including Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, Slovenia, Hungary, and South Korea, and was also screened on numerous VOD platforms and television channels. Caught in the Net received numerous awards, including the Czech Lion and the Czech Film Critics' Award. Her work focuses on contemporary social issues, often exploring the impact of the internet and digital technologies on modern society. She also directed the television films Equality Theory (2017)
and Real(e)state (2019).

Her student films, including Transition (2014), Arms Ready! (2016), On the Edge (2018) and Con Spiro (2022), have been screened and awarded at numerous Czech and international film festivals. In 2022, she was included in the Czech edition of Forbes 30 Under 30. Most recently, she completed the feature documentary Virtual Girlfriends (2025), exploring the OnlyFans platform and its influence on contemporary relationships.

Barbora is currently developing the family adventure feature Electric Wonder, inspired by inventions of the 18th century and produced by Helium Film, as well as the biographical feature Turquoise Mountain, produced by Nochi Film, telling the story of mountaineer Dina Štěrbová, the first woman to climb Cho Oyu in 1984. Barbora is also a member of the European Film Academy.
