The Drežnica goat is critically endangered. Along with the goat, the only Indigenous Slovenian breed that reigns on the steep slopes of Northern Primorska, the nation's biodiversity is at risk, as well as the local area's ethnographic, cultural, and spiritual heritage. The extinction of the Drežnica goat would mark the end of generations-long harmony between humans and nature, the collaboration of communities, and the agrarian model that we now recognise as the foundation of sustainable development. The film showcases never-before-seen documentary footage of goats in their natural habitat on the inaccessible Alpine cliffs, along with the stories of locals who, using their skills and ancestral wisdom passed down through generations, strive to avert the inevitable.
