Jana is an Evangelical Protestant pastor working in two small parishes in deprived Slovenian villages. She was raised behind church walls, with a strong religious background and both her parents being pastors. She has overcome childhood sexual abuse, father's alcoholism and a rebellious youth. With her humorous and open spirit, in constant “search for God”, she feels more and more trapped in the rigid teachings of her Church. She is becoming an outcast; she loves her Church community deeply and is faced with a life’s dilemma whether to step away from the pastor hood. Her family is strongly against it. Meanwhile the cracks in her marriage also appear. Her problems are bubbling up, bringing an urgent need to make radical life-changing decisions. It takes courage to stand up for your own beliefs and confront long buried family wounds.
Woman of God received the Al Jazeera Balkan Star award 2022.
