Hazira survived Srebrenica. She has been living in the Ježevac refugee center near Tuzla for almost 30 years. She has never been able to return to her home village in the mountains above Srebrenica. Removed from the political and social situation, she lives with a daily routine of survival – collecting firewood, obsessively cleaning, and overcoming the difficult living conditions in the center. With dark humor and quiet resistance, Hazira deals with the trauma of the war that continues to define her life. To escape the unbearable pain, Hazira is in constant motion, always on the run from her memories and the fear that it could start all over again. Hazira’s portrait serves as a reminder of the lasting impact of war and shows how people like her navigate a world that seems to have forgotten them. In 2025, it will be 30 years since the genocide in Srebrenica and the end of the war in the former Yugoslavia. This film is dedicated to all those who still suffer from the consequences of that war.
