Between divide and unity’ is a film without an end. It’s a story of an Iranian refugee Peyman, who after different ‘wreckages’ on the Balkan roads found his way into Slovenian/European land. He picturesquely describes ways of a refugee having to adjust to the local society, the film also shows his existential problems and confrontations with ever-growing populism that doesn’t show only in the form of violent actions of far right-wing groups or by swaggering with hostile discourse and floods of all kinds of isms, but also in the form of progressive and engaged working (of refugees) within the social movement ‘Protirasistična fronta brez meja’ and connecting individuals and groups, working at the Social centre of Rog factory in Ljubljana. Together they tried to find connecting ways and possibilities for co-existing of refugees with the local community. The film talks about a specific time that cut deep into the borders of space, cultures, languages, beliefs and histories and created a kind of in-between-space or meta-space in which a new form of social cohesiveness sprung as a product of different creative potential of everyone involved.
